Communication & Consent

How Rove Mode collects opt-in consent and how you can manage communication preferences

How We Collect SMS Consent

Rove Mode is an indoor cycling studio. We send transactional SMS messages to riders who explicitly opt in. These messages are used for booked class reminders and related service updates such as confirmations, schedule changes, cancellations, and waitlist movement. This page publicly documents our opt-in process for review by communication providers.

Opt-In Collection Points

1. Account Signup (Waitlist Application)

When new users submit their waitlist application at app.gorovemode.com, they are presented with an unchecked SMS consent checkbox alongside the phone number field:

"I agree to receive SMS messages from Rove Mode about my booked classes, reminders, and service-related updates at the number provided. Msg freq varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."

This checkbox is not pre-checked. SMS consent is not required to create an account. The consent choice is recorded in our database with a timestamp and source identifier.

2. Notification Settings

After account approval, users can manage their SMS consent at any time from Settings → Notification Settings. The SMS consent toggle includes the same disclosure language. Enabling or disabling SMS consent is recorded with a timestamp. Revoking consent immediately disables all SMS notification categories.

3. Phone Number Source

Phone numbers are collected during the waitlist application and may also be synced from the user's verified Clerk authentication account. Only verified phone numbers are used for SMS delivery.

SMS Message Types

Users who opt in may receive the following types of SMS messages:

Class Reminders

Sent 30 minutes before a booked class. Users can disable this category individually while keeping other SMS active.

Example: "Rove Mode: Reminder — you're booked for Ride on Apr 3 at 6:00 PM. Reply C to confirm. HELP for help. STOP to opt out."

Signup Confirmations

Sent when a user signs up for a class. Can be disabled individually.

Example: "Rove Mode: You're confirmed for Ride on Apr 3 at 6:00 PM, Bike 7. HELP for help. STOP to opt out."

Service Updates

Schedule changes, cancellations, and waitlist movement notifications.

Example: "Rove Mode: Your Apr 3 6:00 PM Ride was canceled. Rebook in the app. HELP for help. STOP to opt out."

Approximate volume: Message frequency varies based on class activity. Typical users receive 2-6 messages per month.
